Role Overview
The University of Canterbury is seeking an accomplished researcher and experienced Psychologist to join its prestigious Child and Family Psychology programme as a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor.
About the Programme
The Child and Family Psychology Programme is a unique, cross-sectoral programme that aims to equip psychologists with the skills and knowledge to work effectively with children and families in various settings, including Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Paediatrics, Education, and non-government children's services.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an active research programme in clinical child, developmental, family, and/or parenting fields, consistent with appointment at Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor level.
- Contribute to the teaching and training of postgraduate students in the Child and Family Psychology Programme.
- Lead a team of researchers and contribute to the development of the programme's research agenda.
- Engage in professional leadership and advisory roles, and participate in national and international networks.
- Maintain and develop expertise in culturally appropriate practice with indigenous, ethnic minority, and/or immigrant families.
- Engage in scholarly activities, such as research publications and presentations, and participate in the university's academic staff exchange programmes.
Selection Criteria
- PhD in Psychology or other relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Registration to practice as a Psychologist in New Zealand, or eligibility for registration in New Zealand.
- At least 5 years post-registration experience as a Psychologist working with children, adolescents, and/or families, with evidence of significant professional standing in their field of practice.
- Experience leading a child and family psychology team or service, or other relevant clinical leadership and/or experience in senior clinical advisory roles.
- Research and scholarship in a field relevant to child and family psychological practice and/or policy, consistent with appointment at Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor level.
- Experience teaching in a post-graduate Psychologist training programme that culminates in Psychologist registration/licensure.
