About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife to join our Rural team in providing postnatal care, breastfeeding support, and emotional care to whanau. The successful candidate will have a passion for assisting whanau in navigating the pregnancy journey.

The role involves providing acute presentations, labour and birth care, CTG monitoring, and assessing pregnancies. You will also provide support for LMC midwives during labours and emergencies, as well as managing referrals to Waikato Hospital.

About the Team

Tokoroa Maternity Unit supports whanau in the community at a very special time in their lives. With around 100 births per year, we offer a service that covers Tokoroa and surrounding rural towns. Together with the LMC practice in the area, you will provide support to whanau who utilise our service with midwifery knowledge and skills.

Requirements

  • Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
  • Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
  • Registration with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand and hold a current annual practising certificate.
  • A commitment to ongoing education and development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A clean full New Zealand driver licence.
