The Environmental Management Officer plays a key role in ensuring the effective monitoring, compliance, and enforcement of resource consents. This role focuses on managing resource consent compliance, addressing breaches, and supporting remediation activities to achieve positive environmental outcomes for Auckland.

This full-time, permanent position involves working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a competitive salary and benefits package offering a rewarding opportunity to contribute to Auckland's environmental management and sustainability initiatives.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor active resource consents and ensure compliance with agreed processes.
  • Develop and manage enforcement plans for non-compliance cases, collaborating with stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Provide guidance and support to consent holders to help them achieve compliance.
  • Support the wider team with mentoring and fostering a positive collaborative culture.
  • Collaborate with other teams to achieve strategic environmental outcomes.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (Risk/Compliance Management, Environmental Science, Law, etc.).
  • 2+ years of experience in environmental compliance or planning.
  • Local Government experience preferred, particularly in a regulatory environment.
  • A current, valid New Zealand driver's license.
  • Eligible to hold a warrant under the Resource Management Act 1991 and Local Government Act 2002.
