Havelock North, New Zealand Presbyterian Support East Coast Full time

PSEC, a leading provider of social and health services in New Zealand, offers an extraordinary opportunity to make a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities. Our East Coast team is comprised of dedicated staff and volunteers working together to deliver exceptional services across Enliven and Family Works in Hawke's Bay, and two charity shops.

As a Community Mentor, you will be part of a dynamic team that empowers clients to live fulfilling lives as valued members of their communities. Your role will involve supporting clients to participate in community activities that bring them joy and purpose.

You will journey alongside clients, fostering meaningful connections and helping them achieve their goals and aspirations. This may involve:

  • Providing support to engage in activities such as water-based therapy programs, ten-pin bowling, or attending local sporting events or live music shows
  • Developing networks and increasing community participation to enhance clients' overall well-being

To excel in this role, you will need to possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be open-minded, patient, and empathetic. A Level 2-4 Health and Wellbeing Certificate (or equivalent) and a full clean driver's license are also essential. Experience driving mobility vans would be advantageous.

We value our staff and offer opportunities for growth and development through extensive training programs. You will have access to recognised NZQA qualifications at no cost and can benefit from a supportive work environment that fosters continuous learning and career progression within our organisation and the wider disability sector.

This role offers a chance to lead social change with courage, care, and aroha as part of the PSEC team. If you share our passion for empowering individuals with disabilities and making a positive impact in your community, we encourage you to apply.
