As a Behavioural Support Specialist, you will work with individuals with complex support needs, helping them to develop coping strategies and manage challenging behaviour. This is a rewarding role that requires patience, empathy, and effective communication skills.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Assess and develop individualised behaviour support plans, in collaboration with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Implement behaviour management strategies, using positive reinforcement techniques and de-escalation methods.
- Work closely with clients to identify triggers and develop self-management skills.
- Conduct regular reviews and evaluations, adjusting support plans as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, adhering to regulatory requirements.
Your Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviour.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Full NZ driver's license and willingness to use vehicles for work purposes.
- Physical fitness to provide necessary support, including lifting and mobility assistance.
