**Job Description**

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Community Ranger. In this role, you will be responsible for statutory elements of community work, including maintaining and developing relationships with community members.

You will partner with key stakeholders, including Ski Field clubs and transport groups for Tongariro Crossing. Your primary responsibility will be to connect with people and look after our relationships at place.

As a Community Ranger, you will join the Operations team to work alongside our Treaty partners and communities to achieve great outcomes for conservation.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Community Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with community members, including support for whanau, hapu, and iwi in their role as kaitiaki of te taiao.
  2. Statutory Compliance: Process permit applications for activities such as structures on conservation land, aircraft activity, commercial recreation, and works approvals for existing operators.
  3. Relationship Building: Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Ski Field clubs and transport groups for Tongariro Crossing.
  4. Problem-Solving: Work within a statutory framework involving following process and procedure, to analyze and distribute information, and find mutually beneficial solutions.

About the Team:

The Regional Operations Group is responsible for delivering conservation work on the ground through our biodiversity, recreation/historic, community engagement, and visitor centre teams. The Tongariro team is close-knit, looks out for one another, and is passionate about the mahi that they do.
