About the Role
We are seeking a Disability Support Specialist to join our Supported Living team. As a Disability Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing support to individuals with intellectual disabilities living in their own homes to achieve their goals and aspirations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support individuals to develop daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting
- Help individuals to maintain relationships with family and friends, and make new connections
- Support individuals to participate in community activities such as sports and art
- Assist individuals in finding employment and navigating employment-related tasks
- Support individuals to manage social issues and access relevant community services
- Help individuals to make informed decisions and live a healthy lifestyle
Requirements
- Prior experience in a similar role or in a field related to disability support
- The ability to build strong relationships with the people we support and help them make good decisions for themselves
- The ability to work independently and problem-solve in complex situations
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to share information in a way that can be easily understood
- Comfortable and proficient in using technology
- Physically fit to support individuals in a variety of activities
- In possession of a Full NZ driver's licence
