Job Summary:

This is a key leadership role within the Financial Accounting and Control team. The Technical Accounting Lead will ensure statutory reporting requirements are met, tax legislation is complied with, and financial information integrity is upheld.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver specialist financial accounting services in support of strategic outcomes.
  • Provide expert advice on accounting standards, taxation, and financial compliance.
  • Prepare key financial statements for the Annual Report and oversee month-end and year-end processes.
  • Manage external audits and liaise with auditors and third parties.
  • Ensure NZ tax obligations (Income Tax, PAYE, GST, FBT) are met.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial controls, reconciliations, and reporting processes.
  • Mentor and train junior accounting staff.
About You:
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent qualification with a minimum of 7 years' experience in financial accounting.
  • Strong technical expertise in accounting standards, tax legislation, and financial reporting.
  • Previous experience in a Big 4 audit firm or similar complex accounting environment is highly desirable.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic financial insights and influence decision-making.
  • Experience in a Te Ao Māori work environment is an advantage.
