About the Role

Canonical is seeking a skilled Linux Desktop & Devices Support Engineer to join our global team. As a key member of our support organization, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional technical support experiences to our customers.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level technical support for employees and customers via phone, email, and web.
  • Take ownership of new cases, ensuring timely updates and resolutions.
  • Serve as an internal customer advocate, keeping them informed throughout the process.
  • Fulfill commitments and set proper expectations to meet our Service Level Agreement (SLA) standards.
  • Contribute to knowledge base articles and maintain existing ones, sharing valuable insights with customers.
  • Draft and distribute technical notices for internal and external communication.
  • Prioritize tasks to accomplish the most critical and urgent work first.
  • Stay up-to-date with our evolving products and services, enhancing your skills and expertise.
  • Maintain regular communication and information exchange with the team, both locally and remotely.
  • Identify opportunities to improve our service delivery.
  • Participate in a regular weekend working rotation.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field from an accredited institution, preferably Computer Science, MIS, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in system performance troubleshooting.
  • Expertise in Linux troubleshooting, including collecting logs and stack traces, fine-tuning configuration files.
  • Knowledge of Linux integration with other environments, such as authentication/directory services, network file systems.
  • Experience with Linux server administration.
  • Programming fundamentals in any language, including bash, python, Perl, Ruby, Javascript, C, C++, Go.
  • Able to learn quickly, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and handle customer-facing responsibilities.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Willingsness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
