About the Role

The New Zealand Government is seeking an experienced Test and Release Manager to join its Information Technology team.

  • This role involves managing testing, assurance, and software releases in a complex technology environment.
  • Responsibilities include upholding quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and implementing new IT solutions in alignment with agreed expectations and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Primary deliverables for the Test and Release Manager include:

  1. Developing and implementing a comprehensive testing strategy, ensuring all IT solutions conform to required quality standards.
  2. Planning and leading testing activities across all stages of product, system, and service development, ensuring comprehensive test coverage.
  3. Providing authoritative advice and guidance on test planning, execution, and the use of automated tools and techniques.
  4. Measuring and monitoring adherence to testing standards, assessing risks and implementing preventative measures.
  5. Identifying improvements to testing processes and contributing to the development of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for testing.
  6. Planning, coordinating, and managing the release of new IT solutions and services, ensuring risk assessments are completed for each release.
  7. Working closely with outsourced vendors to ensure all aspects of the release process, including deployment and post-implementation support, are effectively managed.
  8. Collaborating with business and technology teams on release scheduling and communicating progress and issues during the release cycle.
  9. Conducting post-release reviews to identify areas of improvement for future releases and ensuring release processes and procedures are followed.
