Senior Avionics Systems Engineer

Rocket Lab is a pioneer in launch and space systems, enabling ambitious space missions. Our Electron rocket has provided reliable access to orbit since 2018.
We're developing Neutron, a reusable 13-tonne payload class rocket. The Neutron Avionics department designs avionics systems for the vehicle, including integrated hardware, flight software, and the Flight Safety System (FSS).
The Neutron FSS team is responsible for high-level design, component qualification, acceptance testing, and certification activities. This team possesses sharp technical knowledge and effective stakeholder communications.
This hands-on role involves various design, testing, and certification activities, including test rig specification and deployment. You will be on the front line of one of Rocket Lab's most important programs.
You'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering field or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years relevant industry experience.
- Proficient in programming languages (e.g., C, C++ or Python).
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop avionics systems for the Neutron rocket.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for system integration.
- Liaise with external parties for certification and compliance.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated good engineering judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of electrical test equipment, data acquisition systems, and instrumentation.
- Experience with hardware development or electronics test engineering.
