Partners Life is a leading life and health insurance company in New Zealand. We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our dynamic legal team based in Takapuna.

This key role will suit an insurance or financial services lawyer who can provide expert legal advice on customer, product, marketing, and distribution related matters. The successful candidate will work closely with the General Counsel and another Senior Legal Counsel to support constructive relationships with regulators, industry bodies, and other stakeholders.

The role involves a broad range of work including providing legal advice on customer claims, disputes, and remediation, as well as playing a crucial role in developing and executing risk management, legal, and compliance strategies to support strategic and operational goals.

We are looking for a skilled lawyer with 10 years+ PQE in insurance or financial services at a top-tier law firm or financial services organisation in NZ, and a current NZ legal practising certificate. Experience in insurance products, distribution, and referral contracts, litigation, and dispute resolution is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice on customer, product, marketing, and distribution related matters
  • Support constructive relationships with regulators, industry bodies, and other stakeholders
  • Develop and execute risk management, legal, and compliance strategies to support strategic and operational goals
  • Play a crucial role in shaping the company's legal approach and contributing to its success

Requirements:

  • 10 years+ PQE in insurance or financial services at a top-tier law firm or financial services organisation in NZ
  • Current NZ legal practising certificate
  • Experience in insurance products, distribution, and referral contracts, litigation, and dispute resolution
  • Strategic thinker with a keen understanding of commercial objectives
