Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing postnatal care to inpatients, including breastfeeding support, education, and monitoring of vitals according to care plans.
  • Providing midwifery care for acute presentations, including labour and birth care, CTG monitoring, and assessing the pregnancy of someone who has presented to ED with a non-pregnancy related issue.
  • Supporting LMC midwives during labour or in emergency situations.
  • Managing referrals to Waikato Hospital and ensuring the unit is well stocked and running smoothly.

About the Team

The Tokoroa Maternity Unit supports whanau at a special time in their lives, offering a service that covers Tokoroa and surrounding rural towns. As a small and supportive team, we work collaboratively with the LMC practice in the area to provide high-quality midwifery care.

Your Requirements

  • Competency in te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your learning journey.
  • Experience upholding Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, particularly in healthcare settings.
  • Registration with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand and a current annual practising certificate.
  • A commitment to ongoing education and development, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a clean full New Zealand driver licence.
