Auckland Council is seeking a Principal Land Use Planner to join our Regulatory Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the city's development by ensuring public infrastructure is designed and built to standard.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Resource Management Act, Building Act, and Local Government Act. You will need to be experienced working with Auckland's Unitary Plan (AUP) and Auckland Design Manual, with the ability to clearly interpret and apply relevant standards across a variety of development scenarios.

In this role, you will provide expert guidance and advice to our Land Development Engineers, driving innovation and excellence in our engineering consenting processes. You will work closely with a large team, technical specialists, and partners across the Council and development community.

We are seeking a candidate that's committed to delivering exceptional customer service, always striving to exceed applicants' expectations and never settling for mediocrity. With a proactive approach, you'll enjoy coordinating stakeholders, managing deadlines, and addressing infrastructure-related risks.

To be eligible for this role, you will require:

  • A tertiary qualification in civil engineering
  • 10+ years civil land development expertise
  • Deep experience and practical knowledge of relevant legislation and national standards
  • Highly developed interpersonal and relationship skills
  • Experience providing guidance and delivering training
