Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Officer to join our team on a permanent basis with flexible working arrangements. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring environmental compliance within our city, making a positive contribution to the well-being of our environment and community.

Main Responsibilities

  • Resource consent and National Environmental Standards (NES) monitoring
  • Plan rule and bylaw enforcement
  • Pollution response
  • Occasional on-call and afterhours response
  • Litter and Freedom Camping

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in investigations, enforcement, and providing advice on compliance issues
  • A strong understanding of the Resource Management Act 1991 and knowledge of other relevant legislation
  • A qualification in Resource Management, Planning, or science would be an advantage
  • A current driver's licence
  • A commitment to a strong and consistent customer focus philosophy
  • Excellent communication, computer, and writing skills
  • High personal motivation with effective time management skills
  • Excellent investigation and enforcement skills, attention to detail, methodical
  • The ability to work collaboratively and as a supportive team member
  • Conflict resolution/problem solving skills
