We are seeking a Maori Partnerships and Engagement Specialist to join our team at Museums Aotearoa.

Museums Aotearoa is dedicated to the vision of Te Papa as he whare taonga tumu tiriti, kei reira te whakapumautanga o te katoa ki te Tiriti o Waitangi a, ka whakamahia e te Maori te tino rangatiratanga.

A dedicated team seeking to make authentic and lasting changes in the way museums and iwi collaborate, interact and share responsibility for caring for taonga.

Main Responsibilities
  • Advocate for iwi within Museums Aotearoa, and advocate for Museums Aotearoa with iwi, while exemplifying manaakitanga.
  • Enhance engagement and interactions between Museums Aotearoa and Maori.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with iwi, engagement, and partnership.
Requirements
  • Meaningful and active relationships with Maori working in and for te taiao.
  • Experience engaging with iwi and Maori organisations.
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver complex iwi or kaupapa Maori projects.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship building skills, including demonstrated experience in consultation and negotiation.
  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implementation.
