Head Medical is seeking an experienced specialist in geriatric medicine to join our team as a consultant.
We have an exciting opportunity available in Rotorua, New Zealand, where you will be working with our multi-disciplinary team in the Older Persons and Rehabilitation Service.
The service provides care for older patients and those requiring rehabilitation or who have suffered a stroke. Our team consists of specialists, geriatric nurse specialists, registrars, house officers, allied health professionals, and nurses. We are committed to providing the best outcomes for our patients through close collaboration and effective communication.
In addition to inpatient care, we also provide outpatient and community assessments in both Rotorua and Taupo. Our close links with surgical and anaesthetic colleagues enable us to provide a perioperative frailty service. We run specialist clinics for Parkinson's disease and memory disorders, working closely with physician colleagues, mental health services, NASC, and community-based teams.
To meet the growing needs of our aging population, we anticipate developing an acute inpatient geriatric service that will offer advice to our orthopaedic and surgical teams. This role will play a key part in this development.
We encourage applicants with specialist training in geriatric medicine who are vocationally registered with the New Zealand Medical Council (NZMC) or overseas-trained applicants eligible for vocational registration.
