About the Role
Auckland Council's Stormwater Quality team is seeking a highly experienced Senior Healthy Waters Specialist to lead the development and improvement of scientific methods and tools to understand and predict stormwater quality impacts and evaluate management strategies.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with expertise in Water Quality Science and modelling to provide expert advice and technical input into policy, strategy, planning, regulatory, and infrastructure decisions related to stormwater quality management.

The successful candidate will work closely with teams within the HW&FR department and across the organisation to develop and implement effective solutions, supporting and promoting continuous improvement initiatives within the team, and overseeing water quality data management and generating intelligence on recreational water quality issues.

We are looking for someone with a strong background in Water Quality/Limnology/Environmental Geochemistry or science, and/or Modelling, as well as 7+ years relevant work experience in water quality (Freshwater/Coastal) modelling, with 4 of those years in the stormwater industry or research.

Responsibilities and Requirements:
  • Experience in Water Quality Science and modelling, with a strong background in Water Quality/Limnology/Environmental Geochemistry or science, and/or Modelling.
  • 7+ years relevant work experience in water quality (Freshwater/Coastal) modelling, with 4 of those years in the stormwater industry or research.
  • Excellent customer rapport and communication skills, combined with your interpersonal abilities.
  • Able to co-lead the development and improvement of scientific methods and tools to understand and predict stormwater quality impacts and evaluate management strategies.
