**Job Overview**

New Zealand Government is seeking a highly skilled Technical Operative to join our National Criminal Investigations Group (NCIG). As a Technical Operative, you will provide specialist covert technical surveillance capabilities to support serious crime and organised crime investigations across all Police districts.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic operational environment and utilize your technical skills to make a real difference in keeping our communities safe.

**Responsibilities**

As a Technical Operative, you will be responsible for:

  • Deploying covert surveillance devices to listen to, track, or observe activity
  • Providing technical advice to the Operations Supervisor and Investigators to enhance planning and operational outcomes
  • Demonstrating innovation and initiative, including competency to identify and/or develop bespoke solutions to overcome operational challenges
  • Contributing to operational planning, ensuring deployment and health & safety risks are identified and mitigated

**Requirements**

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Industry experience and skills in one or more of these fields: Radio and RF Systems, TCP/IP, Computer Networking, Embedded systems, Electronics and electrical, Use of hand, power, and workshop tools, Area, Ground, and Site appreciation and installation
  • A strong technical background, demonstrated initiative, innovation, and a continuous improvement mind-set
  • The ability to maintain a Government Top Secret Security Clearance
