The Clinical Nurse Specialist – Māori Health position is an exciting opportunity for a nurse looking to develop their career in palliative care with a specialist focus on Māori Health and advocacy. This new role has been created to further acknowledge our responsibilities to Te Triti o Waitangi and to improve access for Māori patients.

We offer the chance to shape your role and be innovative, working in conjunction with our multidisciplinary team. You will have autonomy to collaborate with patients and whānau to make the best decisions regarding care and treatment, in the context for Māori.

As part of our extended kamahi Māori team, you will have the opportunity to grow and develop your nursing leadership and influence. We also provide free parking for all staff.

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • a senior nursing background with at least 4 years' experience in palliative care or similar
  • a keenness and desire to work at the top of your scope
  • ability to demonstrate clinical, professional and cultural leadership
  • preparedness to grow the role and bring a solid Māori cultural lens to this work
  • interest and enthusiasm for continuous quality improvement
  • ability to demonstrate evidenced based practice
