As a dedicated Online Tutor at University Partnerships, you will play a vital role in supporting students enrolled in the NZ Certificate in Information Technology (CIT) course. This fully remote position offers flexibility and autonomy, allowing you to teach from anywhere in New Zealand while making a meaningful impact on students' academic journeys.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality online sessions to reinforce key course concepts, utilizing interactive teaching methods to foster student engagement and understanding.
  • Host open Q&A sessions to assist students with coursework and assignments, providing timely guidance and support to ensure academic success.
  • Offer resubmission support by guiding students in understanding feedback and improving their work, empowering them to achieve their full potential.
  • Engage with at-risk and disengaged learners through personalized study plans and outreach efforts, promoting a supportive learning environment that encourages student success.
  • Collaborate with class tutors to align on student needs, participate in weekly meetings, and document key student challenges, ensuring a cohesive approach to student support.
  • Prepare comprehensive lesson materials, respond to student inquiries, and review student submissions, maintaining accurate records and providing constructive feedback.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in technical knowledge.
  • Professional background/experience in IT Support/Help Desk or another related IT field, showcasing expertise in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • The ability to guide students through key topics, including hardware, networking for system administration, operating systems, and scripting for system administration, ensuring they gain practical, hands-on experience.
  • Experience using sandbox environments for conducting practical labs and supporting students with hands-on learning, promoting experiential education.
  • Prior experience in tutoring, teaching, or student support in an online environment is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong communication, mentoring, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS) and online teaching tools effectively, ensuring seamless delivery and engagement.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends is essential, as this role will be responsible for the delivery of evening and weekend classes.
