About the Role:

The Auckland Council's Governance & Engagement department has a permanent full-time opportunity for a Senior Advisor to join the Councillor Support team. This role will report directly to the Team Leader and be based in the Auckland city centre with flexible working options.

As a Senior Advisor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining impartiality while possessing a sharp understanding of working within a political environment. Your primary responsibility will be to provide essential support, advice, and connections to our councillors, enabling them to operate efficiently, provide leadership, and engage with the people of Tāmaki Makaurau.

You will work closely with councillors and senior staff on various aspects, including:

  1. Providing robust advice on policy matters for the Auckland region
  2. Maintaining stakeholder management and relationship building on behalf of the councillors
  3. Timely governance process and administrative support
  4. Assistance with speech preparation, communications, and general media support

About You:

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about Auckland and has a strong understanding of the political landscape. You will need to possess high-level organisation skills, be politically savvy, and have experience in complex organisations.

To succeed in this role, you will require a good attitude, resilience, and the ability to manage high-pressure situations. Key requirements include:
