Job Description

We are seeking an experienced commercial lawyer to join our team as Assistant Manager Resources Law. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting our commercial procurement team, reviewing and drafting significant commercial contracts, and ensuring NZDF's contracts comply with legislative and commercial law.

Your speciality will be commercial law, primarily providing advice on commercial matters. You will work closely with our commercial procurement team, reviewing, drafting, and approving significant commercial contracts. You will also provide legal advice and support for commercial, property, leases, and other in-house matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the commercial procurement team by reviewing and drafting significant commercial contracts
  • Provide legal advice and support for commercial, property, leases, and other in-house matters
  • Ensure NZDF's contracts comply with legislative and commercial law, and government's procurement policies
  • Represent NZDF at mediations and the Employment Relations Authority on occasion

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A LLB degree and the ability to hold a practising certificate as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand
  • Three to five years post-admission experience in commercial law
  • A Class 1 Full Driver's Licence
