The Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu is inviting applications for the position of Ngai Tahu Specialist - HSNO Komiti. As a specialist in this field, you will play a key role in providing technical assistance to the Office of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu and Papatipu Rūnanga on matters relating to the HSNO Act.

About the Role
  • Provide technical assistance on environmental policy matters.
  • Represent the Ngāi Tahu perspective on the HSNO Komiti.
  • Ensure tribal matters of significance are represented to the Komiti.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mahinga kai practice and species, as well as familiarity with Ngāi Tahu tikanga and tribal policy regarding hazardous substances and new organisms. You will also have experience in the broad area of Genetic Modification, Hazardous Substances and introduction of new organisms.

Key Requirements
  • Strong understanding of mahinga kai practice and species.
  • Familiarity with Ngāi Tahu tikanga and tribal policy.
  • Experience in Genetic Modification, Hazardous Substances and introduction of new organisms.

As a member of the HSNO Komiti, you will be required to attend meetings four times a year in Christchurch. Remuneration for full Komiti Member per meeting is $750, plus reasonable travel and accommodation expenses.
