Automotive Instructor

WelTec, a Business Division of Te Pukenga - New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology, seeks an Automotive Tutor to join our dedicated team. The role involves facilitating teaching, learning, and assessment for automotive students at level 2, pre-trade, or apprentice level, with courses emphasizing hands-on practical learning.

The successful candidate will possess a broad range of skills covering automotive systems fundamentals, servicing, and diagnostics, including automotive electrical and electronics. Knowledge and experience in heavy vehicle systems would be an advantage but not essential. A minimum qualification of Advanced Trade Certificate/Advanced Registration/National Certificate in Automotive Engineering and/or an Automotive Electrical Engineering qualification is required.

The role may involve teaching duties at either of our Porirua or Petone sites depending on student enrollment numbers. Applicants must pass a Ministry of Justice Criminal Convictions Check to work with young people and hold a current driver's license. Key attributes for the role include good communication skills, a positive attitude towards helping younger people learn new skills, and a reasonable level of physical fitness.
