The primary focus of this role is to ensure our databases continue to run smoothly, providing a seamless flow of information to intended recipients. You will be passionate about optimising and improving access to our data for both internal and external users, while ensuring security is paramount.

You will own the data layer, proactively identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations to enhance the way our systems work with data. In addition to mentoring and sharing your knowledge with the wider development team(s), you will also be happy to 'roll up your sleeves' and work on projects as required.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining database integrity and performance
  • Optimising queries and improving data retrieval
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement new features and technologies

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Database Administrator/ Data Systems Developer who can lead our Data Layer Community of Practice, facilitating knowledge sharing sessions and showcases with the wider technology teams.

Requirements:

  • Solid experience with PostgreSQL administration
  • Confidence and experience in query optimisation and data layer performance improvement
  • Knowledge and experience of AWS, particularly RDS (Serverless experience would be an advantage)
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies including Scrum and/or Kanban
