Honey Harvest Specialist

Singh Bees is seeking a skilled and experienced Honey Harvest Specialist to join our team in the Bay of Plenty Region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out various tasks related to commercial beekeeping and honey production, under the supervision of a senior beekeeper. This includes performing basic duties such as inserting honeycombs into hives, accessing colonies to determine if food or medicine is needed, feeding and medicating bees, sterilizing hives, and preparing bees and equipment for pollination.

Key Responsibilities:

• Insert honeycombs into hive under direction of senior beekeeper
• Access colony to determine if food or medicine is needed
• Feed and medicate bees for diseases, parasites, and pests
• Sterilize hive and burn diseased hive or bee colony
• Learn how to raise and replace queens
• Mow, cut, and weed fields
• Perform ditching, shoveling, hoeing, hauling, ground preparation, and other manual tasks

Requirements:

• No fear of bees and non-allergic to bee stings, pollen, honey, or other products of the hive
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Physically fit and able to handle, lift, and carry heavy or bulky objects
• Minimum three years of work experience or relevant qualification preferred

Benefits:

• Competitive hourly rate: $29.66 - $32.00 per hour
