Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Coding Specialist to join our team at Teema Solutions Group.

About the Role

This full-time remote position offers a challenging opportunity to work in outpatient coding for acute care facilities and Trauma Level II cases. As a Senior Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately assigning ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, payer guidelines, and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately code and review outpatient encounters, including diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures in various specialties, with a focus on acute care and Trauma Level II cases.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, clinical staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate documentation for appropriate coding and reimbursement.
  • Assist in the training and mentorship of junior coding staff, providing guidance and support on complex coding issues.
  • Review and interpret physician notes, operative reports, and other clinical documentation to ensure correct code assignment.
  • Perform coding audits and reviews, identifying areas for improvement in coding accuracy and compliance.
Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5-8 years of outpatient coding experience, with a strong understanding of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Experience in outpatient coding for acute care facilities and/or Trauma Level II cases is highly preferred.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification is required (Certified Coding Specialist – CCS preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of outpatient billing processes, coding compliance, and payer regulations.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and coding software.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to identify coding discrepancies.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with physicians, clinical teams, and other departments.
