About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Lecturer to join our team at Waipapa Taumata Rau | The University of Auckland. This is an exciting opportunity for a medical professional with expertise in genomics and cancer treatment to contribute to our Precision Medicine Initiative (PMI).

As a Senior Lecturer, you will play a key role in facilitating and participating in the Molecular Tumour Board (MTB) Programme, working alongside clinicians, variant curators, and biologists to realise the strategic objectives of the PMI. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and run a multidisciplinary MTB that converts somatic variants into treatment decisions for people with cancer in Auckland.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Take responsibility for clinical interpretation of genomic findings within 1 to 2 cancer tumour streams that match your clinical expertise.
  2. Maintain a database of molecular tests required for optimal clinical management in 1 to 2 cancer tumour streams that match your clinical expertise.
  3. Contribute to research that pairs clinical insight with genomics to improve patient care in the longer term.

Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
• MBChB or equivalent
• FRACP or equivalent subspecialising in Medical Oncology

Preferred qualifications include a postgraduate qualification such as a PhD, MD, or MSc.

In addition to your qualifications, you will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
