At St John, we are committed to serving our communities and helping those in need. As a Health Shuttle Driver and Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring that individuals can access essential medical appointments safely and efficiently.
We provide a range of community services, including the Waka Ora Health Shuttle, which makes over 65,000 trips per year. This free or koha-based service transports people to and from essential medical and health-related appointments, often used by older adults, those who are too unwell to drive, and those who cannot access other transport options.
The Franklin Health Shuttle covers Waiuku to Pookeno and neighbouring areas when required. With our mix of residential and rural residents, we ensure everyone can access transport to and from medical and health-based appointments.
Your responsibilities as a Health Shuttle Driver and Assistant include ensuring clients safely reach their appointments on time. You will be responsible for driving a St John Shuttle vehicle while providing assistance to clients who may require it. Your sensitivity towards clients who are unwell is crucial, as well as your physical fitness to meet the demands of this role.
No prior experience is necessary, but some essential requirements apply:
- A valid full and clean NZ Driver's Licence (vehicle may be manual)
- A clean police record
- Ability to commit to one shift rostered per week or fortnight
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Friendly, caring, and compassionate nature with a genuine interest in the well-being of others
- Physical fitness
