The Role

As a Support Services Worker, you will support an individual who thrives in a structured environment. This role involves helping them build independence through community engagement, job searching, and daily living activities.

To excel in this role, you will need a caring and patient approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to establish and maintain boundaries.

This is a part-time position offering 21 hours per fortnight on a rostered basis, including weekend shifts every other week from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, along with three weekday afternoon shifts from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

About You

Having experience working with individuals with disabilities and challenging behaviors is essential. Knowledge of sign language or a willingness to learn it will be beneficial in meeting the specific needs of this service.

Your ability to think creatively and solve problems will be invaluable in this role. You must be able to follow established routines with minimal disruption, while being quick-thinking, resilient, and adaptable.

Essential criteria for this role:
  • Experience working with individuals with challenging behaviour
  • Willingness to learn NZSL
  • Full NZ Driver's license
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand
  • Certificate in Health and Wellbeing, Level 3 and above
  • Must be willing to undergo criminal and Oranga Tamariki checks
  • Valid first aid certificate
