About the Role

We are seeking a National Emergency Management Specialist to join our Planning and Sector Partnerships Unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for building resilience across the 4 Rs of risk reduction, readiness, response and recovery in support of communities. This includes developing and maintaining New Zealand's national emergency management planning framework, partnering with social and infrastructure sectors, and providing technical advice and support to stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to think strategically with strong initiative and problem-solving abilities, adapt in quick changing circumstances, and has high standards of professionalism, integrity and accountability. They will also have a high level of judgement with the ability to make effective decisions in complex situations, anticipate complex problems and look for opportunities to deliver system level improvements and efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain New Zealand's national emergency management planning framework
  • Partner with social and infrastructure sectors to build resilience across the 4 Rs of risk reduction, readiness, response and recovery
  • Provide technical advice and support to stakeholders on emergency management planning and response
  • Contribute to the development of policies and guidelines related to emergency management
