**Job Description:**
The role of Registered Midwife at Birthcare involves playing a vital part in providing high-quality antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care. This is achieved by working collaboratively with women and their Lead Maternity Carers (LMCs) to ensure continuity of care that aligns with Birthcare's Vision and Values.
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain a high standard of patient care in line with legislative and professional requirements.
- Continuously develop professionally and stay up-to-date with the latest developments in midwifery practice.
- Collaborate with LMCs and staff midwives on quality initiatives to improve patient outcomes.
- Utilise effective communication skills to ensure clear understanding and collaboration with patients and healthcare team members.
- Act as a resource person when specialised knowledge or skills are required.
- Ensure patient safety and integrity by managing risks and potential complications.
- FOLLOW LMC care plans and provide informed advice to mothers and families about their care and maximise health potential.
Requirements:
- Registration with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand.
- A relevant bachelor's degree or hospital-based training in midwifery.
- A current annual practice certificate.
- Previous experience in midwifery or as an LMC.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of service.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate professionalism and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work rostered and rotating shifts.
- Sensitivity to cultural and social situations.
