Community Youth Advocate

Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children Full time

The Community Youth Advocate will play a key role in supporting tamariki and rangatahi to achieve their full potential. This will involve working closely with whānau, community groups and other stakeholders to identify and address the barriers that prevent tamariki and rangatahi from thriving.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing advocacy and support to tamariki and rangatahi to help them access the resources and services they need
  • Working with whānau to develop and implement plans to support tamariki and rangatahi to achieve their goals and aspirations
  • Collaborating with other agencies and services to ensure a joined-up approach to supporting tamariki and rangatahi
  • Providing education and training to whānau on topics such as parenting, budgeting and life skills
  • Participating in regular case reviews and meetings to discuss progress and any challenges
  • Staying up-to-date with relevant legislation, policies and procedures to ensure that practice remains evidence-based
