About Us
SPCA is one of New Zealand's most respected charities, dedicated to helping animals in need and advocating for animal welfare since 1872.

The Role
We are seeking a skilled Community Support Officer to join our team at SPCA Centre Palmerston North. This is a part-time position working 28 hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday as rostered. As a Community Support Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Responding to enquiries from members of the public, ensuring all enquiries are handled appropriately and professionally.
  • Triage, coordinate and attend non-inspectorate animal emergencies.
  • Providing animal transport for non-welfare complaint related animals.
  • Assisting with administration including shelter updates, data entry and animal handling.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A current Auxiliary Officer License pursuant to Section 125(1) of the Animal Welfare Act 1999 or be willing and able to gain such an appointment.
  • Experience within the animal welfare and/or extensive animal handling in a previous role.
  • Ability to work in the field which requires a degree of physical fitness.
  • High personal standards and process drive.
