We are a centre of forensic excellence situated in the beautiful lower and east North Island of New Zealand. Our team provides mental health care to men's and women's prisons and youth offending units and justice facilities.
We deliver court liaison services to adult and youth courts. Our community teams provide care for people who require supervision and support by virtue of their status as Special Patients or who have ongoing need for forensic community support.
- We operate three hospitals - Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown, Hutt Valley Hospital in Lower Hutt and Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua - as well as the Kapiti Health Centre in Paraparaumu.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing comprehensive mental health assessments and treatment plans for individuals with complex mental health needs.
- Liaising with correctional facilities, courts, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless care transitions.
- Leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care and achieve positive outcomes.
Requirements:
- Vocational registration in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) or equivalent qualification.
- Specialty training in Forensic Psychiatry is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
