The New Zealand Government seeks a Senior Public Communications Specialist to drive end-to-end communication services and products. This role will support the Office of Treaty Settlements and Takutai Moana, part of the Shared Services Agreement with the Ministry of Justice.

As a key member of the Communications & Ministerial Services team, you will work collaboratively across Te Tari Whakatau and the Ministry of Justice to provide communications and engagement expertise. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing communication plans that align with the strategic direction of Te Tari Whakatau
  • Writing and editing content for online channels, social media, speeches, presentations, and official documents
  • Managing events and responding to media inquiries
  • Fostering strong working relationships within Te Tari Whakatau, the Ministry of Justice, and external stakeholders
  • Supporting continuous improvement in communication processes and service delivery

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • 2+ years' experience in a communications role
  • Strong writing, editing, and digital communications skills
  • Ability to simplify complex information and tailor messages for different audiences
  • Great attention to detail and be a proactive, solutions-focused team player
  • Skilled at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of te ao Māori and tikanga Māori (basic te reo Māori is a plus)
