About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled professional to join our Freshwater and Projects team. As a key member of our team, you will provide fieldwork and other support for delivery of projects for the Catchment Operations Group.

This is an exciting opportunity to assist with the delivery of work programmes and gain exposure to a wide variety of projects primarily within the water quality and aquatic habitat improvement and river management and flood protection programmes.

You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders across the region and assist with a number of projects/work streams including fish passage related work, riparian planting and river management and flood protection activity.

The Horizons region extends over 22,200km2 – from Ruapehu in the north and Horowhenua in the south, to Whanganui in the west and Tararua in the east.

We work with and for our community in the use and protection of our environment, managing our precious resources of land, air and water; as well as public transport and a key role in emergency management.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor level degree or equivalent in an appropriate natural science discipline
  • A full driver's licence
  • Passion for/in natural science disciplines
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Ability to work physically fit, confident working outdoors and in and around water in all weather conditions
