Job Description

We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced Principal Development Engineer to join our team and help develop and execute the design and certification strategy for mechanical structures and mechanisms across the Neutron launch vehicle. As a key member of our team, you'll work closely with structural analysts, designers, manufacturing engineers, and the prototyping team to ensure the successful development and launch of our new large rocket, Neutron.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to rapidly assess conceptual designs, perform system trade studies, and develop integrated design solutions;
  • Defining and documenting material architectural decisions from a component to system level, including material selection, properties, and design allowables;
  • Designing and coordinating/execute testing to generate material property databases for metallic components;
  • Initiating, managing, and controlling projects to ensure timely delivery, within budget, and meeting customer requirements;
  • Mentoring and technically assisting other engineers to ensure the success of our projects.

A competitive salary of $170,000 - $210,000 per year, based on experience, plus benefits and relocation support.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience);
  • 8+ years of industry experience in the design, development, and test of material systems in a relevant technical field;
  • Demonstrated experience with metallic materials and process development and qualification;
  • Demonstrated experience with composites and related materials, including carbon fibre manufacturing processes;
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and engineering professionals.
