About the Role

We are seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician to join our team at Hawke's Bay Hospital, covering a sabbatical leave from February 2026. This is a unique opportunity to work in a high-performing department with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality medical care.

About Our Department

Our Emergency Medicine Physicians have a reputation for excellence within the department, and we are committed to providing a supportive environment for career growth and development. The department offers a range of clinical interests and opportunities for research, with ACEM accreditation for 24 months of training in Emergency Medicine.

Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers' Memorial Hospital is a 330-bed accredited facility providing acute and elective care for the Hawke's Bay region. We are proud to be a teaching hospital, with a strong commitment to the education and training of junior medical staff and final year medical students from the University of Otago.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the New Zealand Medical Council as an Emergency Medicine Physician
  • A positive attitude with problem-solving focus
  • Experience in supervision and teaching of junior medical staff
