About the Role:
The Department of Conservation NZ is seeking an experienced Mountain Rescue Team Leader to join our Aoraki Mount Cook Alpine Rescue Team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in providing search and rescue response work, training, and programme maintenance and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the team during operations and trainings
- Develop and maintain search and rescue programmes
- Ensure currency and competency in alpine environment
Requirements:
- High level of physical and mental fitness
- Experience in rock/ice climbing, mountaineering and alpine skiing
- New Zealand Certificate in Avalanche Risk Management (Level 5) or equivalent
- Capable of climbing Aoraki/Mount Cook seriousness grade III and rock grade 16
