About the Role:

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Altitude Best Limited, you will be responsible for architecting and scaling our cloud infrastructure to deliver secure, fast, and reliable systems for accountants across multiple regions. You will work closely with our Principal Backend Engineer to design and deploy bulletproof AWS infrastructure using Terraform, and optimize databases for speed, scale, and multi-tenant reliability.

You will also be heavily involved in transforming accounting logic into clean, blazing-fast, and scalable Python code, working closely with an Intermediate Computational Engineer to deliver complex computations behind compliance reports and monthly interim reports. If you have exposure to financial systems, thrive on math-heavy challenges, and obsess over making data scream with speed, this is your chance to redefine how accountants work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Architect and scale cloud infrastructure on AWS to deliver secure, fast, and reliable systems
  • Design and deploy bulletproof AWS infrastructure using Terraform
  • Optimize databases for speed, scale, and multi-tenant reliability
  • Transform accounting logic into clean, blazing-fast, and scalable Python code
  • Work closely with an Intermediate Computational Engineer to deliver complex computations behind compliance reports and monthly interim reports

We use Infrastructure as Code: Terraform for provisioning and management, Compute: AWS Lambda for serverless scalability, Databases: Amazon RDS (PostgreSQL) for relational data; Amazon DynamoDB for NoSQL performance, APIs: AWS AppSync for real-time GraphQL APIs, Authentication: Amazon Cognito for secure, multi-tenant access, Storage: Amazon S3 for scalable object storage, CI/CD: GitHub Actions for automated pipelines, Testing: LocalStack for local AWS simulation, Languages & Tools: Python: Core language for backend logic and integrations, Frontend: Your computations feed our frontend via GraphQL APIs.
