**Job Overview**

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Civil Engineer to lead our Roads and Highways group in Wellington. As a key member of our transportation infrastructure team, you will be responsible for technical oversight, strategic client relationship management, and business development initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in road design, transportation engineering, pavement design, and geometric design, with excellent contract development and negotiation skills. You will also be responsible for mentoring and developing junior engineers, contributing to proposal writing for transportation projects, and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead contract development and negotiations for major transportation projects
  • Oversight of project delivery and technical excellence in road design and highway engineering
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers
  • Contribute to business development initiatives and proposal writing for transportation projects
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions for roads and highways clients

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • CPEng is preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on roads and highways
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in road design, transportation engineering, pavement design, and/or geometric design
  • Strong client relationship management experience
  • Excellent contract development and negotiation skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
