The Role

We are seeking a skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our team in an independent contractor capacity. As a community-based role, you will be allocated referrals based on your location and cover a geographical area that suits your needs. You will have opportunities to develop the service and region you work in with other work streams.

Your Responsibilities

  • Complete assessments and report writing to enable effective treatment plans
  • Support planning and development of treatment plans
  • Provide education and advice to service users and their families
  • Assist service users in learning to speak, listen, read, or write as per their treatment plan
  • Work holistically using a philosophy of people helping people with strong local knowledge of the NZ health system

Your Skills and Qualifications

  • A passion for helping people in the community
  • Previous experience working in the community
  • Ability to communicate with primary and secondary healthcare; understanding of ACC and MOH community contracts is an advantage
  • Current practicing registration and NZ practising certificate
  • Ability to work autonomously with a strong solution focus
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Time management and relationship building skills
  • Ability to travel around the region
