We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Rendering Research Engineer to join our team at Wētā FX. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for driving innovation in our rendering architecture and contributing to the development of our bleeding-edge renderer Manuka.
About the Role:
You will work closely with our research team to explore, test, and implement new research opportunities and liaise with artists to understand their specific requirements and support them in using new features.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guiding our rendering research program by suggesting opportunities for research, defining them for our roadmap, and working with our research team to explore, test, and implement.
- Liaising with artists to understand their specific requirements and supporting them in using new features.
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining flexible, robust software components to manage the interplay of different workloads of the rendering architecture that scales to complex and heterogeneous production demands.
Requirements:
- A master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar discipline.
- A deep background in rendering research, physically based rendering, and light transport algorithms.
- 5 years of programming experience in C++ or a related language.
- Expertise in software design for large high-performance systems.
