The ideal candidate will collaborate with gardening staff in maintaining and developing plant collections and other garden areas. Responsibilities include maintaining diverse plant collections, contributing to new garden spaces, and inspiring visitors with enthusiasm for nature.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining trees, grounds, and amenity gardens using various plants and equipment
  • Ensuring appropriate plant introductions and labeling where required
  • Maintaining records of relevant data
  • Liaising with stakeholders, volunteers, and visitors to conserve plants
  • Collaborating with DOC, Iwi, and stakeholders to conserve plants
  • Maintaining turf and assisting with maintenance of structures and hard landscaped areas
