**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to fill the role of Pou Whakahaere, where you will play a crucial part in supporting the Te Tairawhiti office and Ikaroa-Rawhiti rohe. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Maori culture, tikanga, and language, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

As a Pou Whakahaere, you will be responsible for acting as a cultural competency lead, providing tikanga support to senior leaders, and developing kaimahi in their knowledge and skills. You will also be the relationship connector between the region, Te Puni Kokiri national office, and community, ensuring that relationships are established at a local level.

In this role, you will contribute to regional work programmes, leading and providing policy advice across a range of project-related issues significant to Maori and government. You will also be responsible for connecting Maori with central government agencies, promoting Maori achievement in education, training, health, and economic resource development.
