About the Role
At Tauranga City Council, we are seeking a highly experienced collections manager to join our team as Collections Lead at the Tauranga Museum. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the construction of a major new museum and work towards opening in 2028.

Key Responsibilities
This role will oversee the ongoing care of a collection of 35,000 objects and taonga, preparing them for installation in the new museum. You will also manage a programme of incoming loans for the first long-term exhibitions and work on incoming temporary exhibitions.

Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will bring significant experience as a collections manager in a museum setting, preferably supervising other staff. A broad understanding of the museum sector in New Zealand and well-developed professional networks are essential. A working knowledge of Vernon collections management software is highly desirable.
