About the Position

This is a unique on-site opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer with an electrical emphasis. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out day-to-day tasks, including equipment breakdown repairs and scheduled maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent electrical controls skills and experience in plastic extrusion or industrial manufacturing would be advantageous.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate machinery and recommend improvements
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair services to maintain production equipment operability
  • Assist with spare part inventory control
  • Report machinery faults to management and the SHEQ manager
  • Troubleshoot and resolve faults wherever possible
  • Develop and refine preventative maintenance strategies and procedures
  • Perform regular quality checks on equipment to prevent unnecessary maintenance
  • Record all preventive and emergency maintenance activities
  • Carry out Preventive Planned Maintenance tasks on all machinery
  • Maintain and test electrical equipment, including PAT testing, Fire alarms & emergency light testing
  • Create Safe Operating Procedures
  • Overhaul and replace parts according to schedule
  • Improve and implement electrical H&S, including LOTO
  • Comply with safety regulations during maintenance
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns
  • Repair faults or arrange for replacements
  • Update the production manager and engineering manager on progress
  • Other reasonable requests

About You

  • NVQ level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • I.E.E. 18th edition wiring regulations certification desirable
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Team player with strong communication skills
  • Motivated individual with flexibility to adapt to changing situations
  • Knowledge of industrial machinery, including PLC, 3 phase systems, control systems, motors and drives beneficial
  • Knowledge of electrical circuit installation and current guidance
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Excel & Word
  • Ability to perform some mechanical work (30% bias towards Mechanical skills)
