Job Summary
We are seeking experienced educators to join our team as Specialized Wharekura Teachers. As a Wharekura teacher at Te Kura o Waikare, you will play a crucial role in teaching core subjects, adapting to additional subjects, and preparing students for NCEA assessments.
Responsibilities
- Teach core subjects, including Te Reo Maori, mathematics, and other essential areas.
- Adapt to teaching additional subjects like science, physical education, and history as part of the PBL model.
- Prepare students for NCEA with a focus on Te Reo Maori and Mathematics, ensuring they are well-equipped for NCEA assessments.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the integration and delivery of the curriculum through the PBL approach.
- Stay informed about NCEA developments and apply them to instruction.
Requirements
- Strong experience in teaching core subjects, particularly Te Reo Maori and mathematics.
- Knowledge of Project-Based Learning and its application across the curriculum.
- Up-to-date understanding of NCEA standards and expectations.
- A passion for creating a positive, supportive learning environment.
- A commitment to Maori language revitalization and community involvement.
